John R. Wells, President and CEO, Interface Americas
John Wells serves as president and chief executive officer of Interface Americas, a wholly owned subsidiary of Interface, Inc., the world's largest manufacturer of modular carpet tile. John has overall responsibility for Bentley Prince Street, FLOR, and InterfaceFLOR in the United States, Canada and Latin America. Interface Americas' revenue is approximately $575M annually.
Wells joined Interface in January 1994, as vice president of sales. In July, 1995, John was promoted to president and CEO of InterfaceFLOR Commercial. In November, 1999, John was again promoted to his current position as president and CEO of Interface Americas. Prior to joining Interface, Wells worked with Shaw Industries for 13 years where he advanced to several sales and sales management positions. He was a member of the startup team for Shaw's Networx® Modular Carpet Division. Prior to that, Wells served as the western regional sales manager for Shaw Commercial and Stratton Commercial divisions. He was honored as Regional Manager of the Year in 1989 and Salesperson of the Year in 1985 and 1986.
Wells earned a bachelor's degree in Industrial Management from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1984 through a cooperative educational program. In the five years with the cooperative educational program, Wells had extensive experience in engineering, operations, cost accounting, and customer service.
In December of 1995, Wells also completed the Executive Education Program at the UNC at Chapel Hill, NC.
In June 2005, John was appointed to the Board of Directors for the Carpet and Rug Institute. John serves on the Georgia Institute of Technology's Advisory Board, the Alexandar Tharpe Board, and the College of Management Advisory Board. In 2006, John was appointed to the David Suzuki Foundation National Business Advisory Council, Canada. John is a volunteer coach for the Buckhead Baseball Little League. John is a member of the Northside United Methodist Church of Atlanta.
A native of Dalton, GA, Wells and his wife Wendi, along with their two children, Brant and Audrey, reside in Atlanta, GA.
